Immersive Nantucket
Educational 360° content for museum visitors exploring life on Nantucket.
Project Summary
This design project sought to bring the rich history of Nantucket to life through cutting-edge technology. In collaboration with the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA), our team at Kean University created immersive educational experiences for museum visitors, focusing on Nantucket life in the early 1800s. Leveraging research and resources from NHA, along with expertise from science and coastal studies professionals, we went beyond a simple storyboard to produce 360° content that explores the aftermath of the whaling industry on the Atlantic right whale population and offers a model recreation of 19th-century Nantucket. Visitors can experience these narratives at the Nantucket Whaling Museum using virtual reality headsets.
