Black History & Futures Month at NC State

Evergreen design system for Black History Month programming and events

For the NC State's Black History and Futures Month celebration, I developed a versatile, evergreen visual identity centered on Afrofuturism, a conceptual framework that honors Black heritage while embracing innovation and possibility.

Our partners at the African American Cultural Center sought a design that could anchor their month-long programming centered around their flagship Research Symposium. The solution needed to work across diverse applications: Canva templates, social media graphics, campus billboards, printed materials, and event signage.

I created a distinctive pattern design merging African textile traditions with modern technology aesthetics, symbolizing an intersection between cultural resilience and innovation. The monochromatic color palette reinforces boldness and clarity, while the pattern functions as both a standalone identity and a modular asset across all materials.
